PSORIASIS
A noninfectious skin disorder that is marked by skin patches or flaking skin that can occur in limited areas such as the scalp or that can cover up to 80-90% of body.
The overly rapid growth of skin cells is the primary cause of psoriasis. In some cases, skin cells grow 4x faster than normal, resulting in the formation of silvery layers that flake off.

INFLAMMATION
caused by a variety of conditions, including bacterial infection, poor diet, chemicals, hormonal imbalance and physical injury.
Certain essential oils have been documented to be excellent for reducing inflammation such as German Chamomile, which contains azulene, a blue compound with highly anti-inflammatory properties. Other oils with anti-inflammatory properties include peppermint, melaleuca, clove, mountain savory, palo santo, dorado azul, and wintergreen.
Best oils based on type of inflammation:
- tissue and capillary damage and bruising: Myrrh, vetiver, cistus and helichrysum.

- viral infection: Ravintsara, hyssop, myrrh and thyme

So what in the world do you do with all that information? Well, you could go in lots of different directions. I am a "get started" kinda gal.... Starting somewhere is at least starting, right? Here is a quick look at what I might do...
So what in the world do you do with all that information? Well, you could go in lots of different directions. I am a "get started" kinda gal.... Starting somewhere is at least starting, right? Here is a quick look at what I might do...
- Look for oils that have multiple uses for my issues (oils I can use for more than one ailment)
- Look at the prices of the oils and I start with the most cost effect oils.
- Pick a few oils to start with for the problem based on those 2 factors.
For me, as I look over the recommendations for Psoriasis and inflammation,
- I see that both conditions recommend German Chamomile ($34.75 for 5ml), Roman Chamomile ($33.75 for 5ml), Lavender ($21.75 for 15ml), Melaleuca ($26 for 15ml) and Melrose ($17.25 for 15 ml). **prices are my wholesale price as a distributor and don't include tax and shipping**
- I see the Psoriasis Recipe also calls for patchouli ($33.75 for 15ml)
- I would then look up those oils individually and see what else I could use each oil for.( For example, I would use both chamomiles for relaxant, anti-parasitic nerve regeneration, anesthetic, detoxing liver and blood, anxiety, ADHD, depression, insomnia, skin acne and eczema. Melrose is interesting too. It is a blend of Melaleuca, Niaouli, Rosemary, Clove. It has strong antiseptic properties to cleanse and disinfect cuts, scrapes, burns, rashes and bruised tissue. It can regenerate damaged tissue and reduce inflammation It is powerful when diffused to dispels odors, purify air and protect against daily radiation bombardment.)
- Then I would make a purchase based on those criteria. Since Melrose is a good price and contains Melaleuca in it, I would probably buy Roman Chamomile, Lavender, Melrose. I would leave out Patchouli because when I looked it up, there wasn't other things I would use it for. That would cost around $73 before tax and shipping, but I would have 3 diverse oils that would have many uses in my home.
- Remember these oils are so potent that 1-4 drops is all it takes most times. There are about 250 drops in a 15ml bottle of oil. I would mix the essential oils with a carrier oil like grapeseed oil. Then I would apply it to the parts that are dry, like a lotion.
